Celebrating Regenerative Inputs

Celebrating Regenerative Inputs

What are farming inputs? Inputs include labour, fertiliser, farm equipment and pest control. Farming inputs can be industrial or regenerative.

Industrial inputs are often synthetic and engineered (ie. synthetic fertilisers and pesticides) that can have damaging effects to people & planet.

Regenerative inputs are mostly non-synthetic and follow regenerative practices.

Regenerative farming is all about building and restoring soil biodiversity, enhancing biosequestration, and increasing resilience to climate change in a holistic approach.

An example of a regenerative input is compost. Composting uses waste resources from both on and off the farm to replenish nutrients and increase microflora in the earth.

Our farmers have spent years implementing reliable composting systems that utilise food scraps, animal manure, straw bedding, and other waste which becomes nutrient rich material.

Using regenerative farming inputs is part of the ethos of the farmers at our markets. To learn more about their farming practices, stop by Coburg and Carlton on Saturdays and Alphington on Sundays to have a chat as you shop!
